CAMPING STARTER KIT

It almost summer time, which means camping season is just around the bend. I've spent most of my summers camping with my family in our trailer but this year I decided that I would start going on my own trips. Which meant I needed a tent. I decided that it might be a good idea to also get some other basic starter items that every amateur camper should have (according to my dad).

So here's is my camping starter kit:

1. A TENT

Woods Cascade Tent (3 Person)

$239.99

The one I got is a three man tent, so one of the smallest ones you can get. I was going between the two man and the three man but I really wanted to be able to fit a double blow-up mattress inside (because I'm extra af) so I went with the bigger option. I also got some silicone waterproofing spray to make sure that the tent wouldn't leak. I haven't had time to put it on yet because the tent has to sit for 12 hours afterwards in the sun and god knows it can't be sunny in Vancouver for more than a couple of hours right now. I'll honestly probably forget all about the spray because the tent is supposed to be water proof already but I just wanted to be safe.

The tent itself is pretty small but it's only for me so I think it's perfect ( I should've taken a picture of it after I built it but I forgot). It's also super simple to put up and take down which also something I was looking for.

OPTIONAL: Silicone Waterproofing Spray

$15.99

OPTIONAL (but pretty useful) : A tarp to put under the tent, I had one in my garage but you can buy them from stores like Canadian Tire. It just makes putting the tent away easier because this way you won't have dirt and everything stuck to the bottom of the tent.

2. SLEEPING BAG

Coleman Granite Peak Sleeping Bag

$29.99

I'm pretty sure I got this like 50% off at the store becuase of my Canadian Tire card, I think is more like $50-$60 ish dollars. But, yeah sleeping bags are just handy so you don't have to bring 500 blankets like I always do.

3. COOKING STOVE

Outbound 2 Burner Stove

$44.99

This is very useful to have to boil water or to cook things on, I also got a pack of propane.

PROPANE (SET OF 3)

$18.99

These can be pretty pricy at some stores so buying in bulk is the way to go I think they sell them at Costco as well in bulk (??)

4. COOKING SET

Selkirk Cook Set

$65.99

This is a pretty basic set that has a kettle, two pots and a frying pan. It's pretty cute because all of them fit inside each other and then go in a little bag.]

5. LANTERN

Outbound LED Mini Lantern

$22.99

Any type of lantern will do, but they are handy to have on the ceiling of your tent for some extra light (most tents have a hook up there for one) as well as using at a picnic table at night. This one is just a battery powered one I also have a huge propane fuelled one as well.

6. AXE & SAW

Woods Folding Saw

$19.99

Woods Pack Axe

$25.99

Honestly these are those things you forget about but realize you need when you're up there. But, it'll be a life saver when you try and build a fire.

7. FOLDING CHAIR

8. FIRE/MARSHMALLOW STICK

$10

You can find these anywhere

9. COOLER

Well you gotta keep your drinks cold right?

10. PICNIC TABLE CLOTH

Not super necessary but I would just trust me on this one.

11. FIRE STARTER + PAPER + LIGHTER + FIREWOOD

Just basic fire starting material is important to have around.

12. SPEAKER

13. AIR MATRESS + PUMP

I almost forgot about this one but if you aren't a fan of sleeping on the ground might be a god idea to pack one. I have a double in my garage and a car air pump so I'm set but once again

So this isn't everything you'll need for your camping trips but these are some staple items that you should bring with you in order to be somewhat prepared.

Stay tuned for some pictures and videos of our future camping adventures!
