Everyone knows there are unlimited cute cafes anywhere in Vancouver, but if you live in the Surrey/Langley region, it can be hard to find a place that isn't Starbucks or Tim Horton's. So here are a couple of cute lil cafes you can check out without having to make the commute to Vancouver.

1. Boothroyd Heritage Coffee
16811 60 Ave, Surrey
This coffee shop is a heritage house in Cloverdale. It's a cozy little place with sitting outside and inside the house. This place does get pretty busy sometimes because of it's prime location around the suburbs, so I would suggest going later in the afternoon. If you like rooibos tea I highly recommend getting the Red Symphony (latte or frappe) it's super yummy! I'm not sure why this picture makes this house look like the one from The Conjuring but fear not it's definitely not haunted, well not that I know of.

2. West Village Cafe
5620 152 St #160, Surrey
Super cute, hipster-ish place that's got some serious downtown Vancouver vibes going on. Their food menu is huge and serves just about everything, literally. It's honestly probably my favourite on this list by far. The staff is also super friendly and will help you out if you don't know what to choose. It's kind of located in a weird spot so make sure you check it out on google maps before you go.
BONUS: it's got great lighting and is really good for instagram pictures.

3. Wendel's Bookstore & Cafe
9233 Glover Rd, Langley

This little cafe is always packed, and now we know why. It looks like any normal cafe with pastries and coffee machines, the secret: the kitchen running behind the wall! I got one of their Bennies with the Yukon potatoes, and I was in absolute bliss. The food is delicious, coffee is fantastic, and its little bookstore extension makes you wanna find a good book and curl up with it right there. The perfect way to start a day of wandering around Fort Langley, and totally worth the wait!

4. Cuatro Coffee
9014 152 St #202, Surrey

A little hole in the wall cafe next to a Save On Foods, walking in this place is like walking into a cozy little nook where you can grab a coffee and just hang out for as long as you'd like. The staff are all super sweet, to the point of even running out from behind the counter to open the door for a little elderly lady with a cane. Aside from this, if you ask for something not on the menu, they will make it for you no problem. (I highly recommend asking for a Mexican Mocha - it's a mocha made with a little less chocolate and added cinnamon, yum!) Although a little on the pricey side, the coffee is fantastic, and it's such a cute spot to hang out.

5. Islands Cafe
1237 Johnston Rd, White Rock
This place is a little taste of Hawaii! From Hawaiian Coffee to Poke Bowls this place will make you feel like you just had a tropical escape. Inside is adorable with surf boards and artwork decorating the cosy space. I had seen couple people come here for acai bowls so that's what I got and it was delicious. My dad got some coffee and a poke bowl as well. It did take a pretty long time to get our food, almost 20 minutes, so that would be the only downside. Other than that it's a nice spot to hit if you're on the way to White Rock Beach (if you're taking 152nd there).

6. McBurney Coffee and Tea House
20504 Fraser Hwy, Langley

Located in downtown Langley not far after Fraser Highway turns into a one-way, McBurney is a great spot to grab all your books and sit in for hours to study for that next final. Their lattes and Italian sodas are delicious, and their snacks and pastries are usually super yummy too. The staff is fun and bubbly for the most part, but this cafe is bustling in the summer, when people make day trips out to the area because the weather is nice. But if you're in need of a quiet cafe to sit at for a few hours and cram for an exam, this is definitely the place to go. I got a mocha (my usual) with vanilla whipped cream (they also have chocolate which is delicious as well) and a chocolate chip cookie. (Sidenote: the coffee usually looks prettier but it was literally overflowing so I had to sip up some of the whipped cream pre-photo)
